What is a Headgear?

Orthodontic headgear is a specialized device often used to correct jaw and bite misalignment (Class II malocclusion) by applying backward pressure on the upper jaw. It consists of two main components:

  • A facebow, which connects to the appliance
  • A head cap or neck strap, which provides the necessary force to guide jaw growth and tooth movement

What are Headgear Tubes?

Headgear tubes are small metal tubes attached to the Adams clasps on the first molars of an orthodontic appliance. They serve as anchor points for the facebow, allowing the headgear to function properly.

When ordering a custom-made appliance from our catalog, you can add headgear tubes as an optional feature to ensure compatibility with this facebow.
